This thick and creamy tofu mayonnaise is a must-have condiment in your pantry! It is effortless to make and is ready in 5 minutes. This recipe is versatile and is great as a spread, dipping sauce, or dressing.

A jar of tofu mayo with spoon with lemon halves, salt, and mustard beside.

After learning to make vegan mayonnaise at home, there is no return to store-bought ones! Similar to my vegan sour cream, this homemade tofu mayo is creamy and rich without being overly heavy. It is also highly versatile, and can be used as a dressing, dip for my vegan wontons and air fryer potato slices, and even in cooking (like my tofu sisig)!

💚Why you will love this recipe

  • Rich, creamy, and incredibly flavorful
  • Lower in fat and lighter than store-bought mayo
  • Easy to make and ready in 5 minutes
  • Budget-friendly - only calls for simple pantry ingredients!

🍋What you will need

Ingredients needed like silken tofu, lemon juice, maple syrup, and dijon mustard.

📃Ingredients notes and substitutions

  • Silken tofu - I recommend going with firm silken tofu, if possible. Other kinds of silken tofu will also work, but the mayo might be slightly runnier.
  • Lemon juice - Can be substituted with apple cider vinegar or white vinegar.
  • Maple syrup - Provide vegan mayo with a hint of sweetness. You could substitute with other liquid sweeteners like coconut nectar or agave syrup.

🔪How to make

  1. Drain your tofu - Carefully remove silken tofu from the package, draining off excess water.
  2. Blend - Add all ingredients into a blender or food processor, and blend until smooth. You can also use an immersion blender.
  3. Taste and serve - Give tofu mayonnaise a taste, adding more seasonings if needed.

✔Helpful tips

  • For a richer-tasting mayo - You can add 2-3 tablespoons of neutral-tasting oil to enhance the richness of this mayo.
  •  Adjust taste to preference - Give mayo a taste right after blending, adding more seasonings if needed.
  • Mayo will thicken as it sits - It is normal for mayo to be slightly runnier right after blending! It will thicken up after chilling in the fridge for a couple of hours.

🍟How to use

  • Spread - Use it as a spread for your sandwiches, wraps, or burritos.
  • As a base for other sauces - This silken tofu mayo is pretty mild and works great as a base for creamy sauces or salad dressings. I love using it to make sriracha mayo.
  • Dip - You can use it as a dip for fries, air fryer oyster mushrooms, or tofu egg rolls.
  • Dressing - I love using it to make my protein pasta salad, but tofu mayo can also be used to make potato salad or egg salad.

❄️Storing suggestions

This tofu mayonnaise can be refrigerated for 5-7 days. I recommend storing it in a clean glass jar with a lid.

To prolong the shelf-life of mayo, use a clean spoon when taking it out of the jar, and refrigerate it immediately after using.

This makes 8 servings. Nutritional info does not specify what a serving amount is.

I would recommend weighing the end product and dividing it by 8 for the most accurate serving size as the amount will differ slightly based on the ingredients used. 🙂

The recipe says 12 ounces of Tofu. So 8 servings would be (12 divided by 8) 1.5 ounces per serving. The other ingredients wouldnt add much in terms of weight.
