Easy Chinese Steamed Yam Cake

This recipe is: 

 - a classic dim sum dish  -  easy to make  - naturally vegetarian & vegan - flavorful & delicious !  

- yam - shallot & garlic - rice flour  - corn starch  - 5 spice powder  - seasonings

What you need

Saute shallot for 2-3 minutes until translucent.

Step 1

Add in garlic and saute for another 1-2 minutes.

Step 2

Add in taro and cook until soften, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 3

Pour in rice flour mixture into the pan and stir until slight resistance is felt.

Step 4

Transfer it to a square or round baking pan.

Step 5

Steam for 40 - 50 minutes. Let it cool and slice.

Step 6

Top it with green onion, fried shallots and chilis. Enjoy !
